The Supplementary Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a federally-funded program that allows low-income households to purchase food through monthly benefits. A household can be a family, an individual living alone, or multiple unrelated individuals living in the same residence who routinely purchase and prepare meals together. SNAP was formerly Food Stamps.
