Arts, Entertainment and Recreation Establishments Per 10,000 People is the number of establishments that fall under NAICS Code 71 for every 10,000 people in a county. NAICS Code 71 includes live performance venues, spectator sports venues, amusement parks, casinos, museums, sites of historic or cultural significance, outdoor recreation establishments such as parks and ski-resorts, and agri-tourism establishments. NAICS Code 71 may not include government-sponsored parks, recreation centers, or cultural venues. It does not include movie theaters. This indicator is a quality of life variable. There is a large body of literature linking quality of life improvements with rural economic development.
